First. Riders. EVER!
Well, I said I’d update if more happened with the whole Voodoo thing, and here it is. No, I did not go back on Friday, it was still all nasty and rainy. We decided against that. We did, however, go back the next morning… except “we” went from me and Stacy to me, Tyler, and Mikey. Stacy had to work, so she had to miss out. Well, we drove up, and all was looking well; it was sunny, decently warm out, and all of the rides were actually running (haha.) We got to the park, and went on a bunch of rides… you know, all of the usuals (though, now that I think about it, we didn’t get on Thunderhawk).
Anyways, one of the first things that we did was walk past Voodoo to see if anything was up. It was still closed, although the “Opening late May” sign was removed, and there were A LOT of employees cleaning up like, everything. We’re talking polishing the trains, making sure no mulch or blade of grass was out of place, Windex-ing the freaking metal fence around the site… yeah. We figured it wasn’t worth waiting so we just continued on our way through the park. I think it was around the second time that we were in line for Steel Force that Jon texted me saying that someone he was working with said that they saw it running, so I kept my eye out, and sure enough a
few minutes later we saw a test run go up the spiraled spike. I still wasn’t getting my hopes up, so we got on Steel Force, and then went over to the Revolution ride (some spinning swing type ride… you’d know it if you saw it lol.) Well yeah, we got on that again, and then decided why not, let’s go sit over by Voodoo for a little bit to rest and just watch what’s going on. I swear to god, not even five minutes after sitting down, the one employee came out and stood by the front of the queue with her little measuring stick thingy. All it took was for Mikey to grab my attention to show me what was going on and us three were over there faster than… well I can’t think of anything witty to say, but we were over there pretty fucking fast haha.
There were a bunch of people asking her when it was going to open, to which she responded (every two seconds) “hopefully sometime later today.” Well everyone seemed to be turned off by that response and walked away, leaving us three still standing there trying to figure out what to do. It wasn’t long, though, until a big blob of people started forming near the front of the line when they saw us three standing there, so we decided that then would be a good time to let it be known that we were in the front, and conveniently shoved ourselves right in
front of that girl. Slowly but surely the mob of people started to form a line, and it started attracting the attention of other people hoping that it would be opening, and more and more people kept coming over and asking if it was going to open. It got to the point where I started answering for the poor girl. I don’t remember exactly when it happened, but at some point another employee came down from the loading platform and me and Mikey overheard something about “in an hour” and then something about “giving a hand signal when it was time.”
She then walked back up and went into the operating booth, where we didn’t see her again. I think the was a good thing though. Soon after she disappeared in there, the ride started testing.
Now we’re standing here, there’s a line that is blocking the entire walkway, and everyone is all “ooh! ahh!” flipping out, because it’s the most amazing thing they’ve ever seen. Well, I guess we were starting to get a bit out of hand, because a few minutes later, the place was swarming with security po-po’s, which I guess turned out to be a good thing (otherwise, some bitch of a lady would have been first, and not
me!) The security guards then had us all line up along the metal fence that was just cleaned (not for long!) and I managed to get that picture to show just how long of a line we attracted. God, us three are such trend setters! If you look in the picture of the line you can actually see the bitch that almost cut right in front of us (that’ll happen in a few minutes.) She’s the one in black with the purse strap over her boobs holding on to the measuring thinger. Anyways, back to the story, we’re now the first three people in line, the ride’s testing, and everything is just a complete rush. I was so excited I’m surprised I didn’t faint. Tyler at this point was sitting on the ground on his iPhone… reminded me of all the people waiting in line when the iPhone first came out actually lol.
I decided to call my mom to tell her about how we were first in line and that it was probably opening soon, and I also texted probably half of the people that are gonna be reading this (if any do)… Yeah, I was a bit ecstatic haha. Suddenly out of nowhere, everyone up on the platform was all smiles and giving thumbs up signs and this security guard started walking down towards us at the front of the line. He chained up all of the queues and came up to us, asked the girl to open the line, and gave us a speech about how “we were to walk behind him up to the station.” I could have cried right then and there! We were going to be THE FIRST GUESTS TO EVER RIDE VOODOO!!!
We started walking through the line, by this point everyone is cheering and clapping, and all of the employees were smiling and clapping for us, and omfg, I was in bliss lmfao. We made small talk with the security po-po while we were walking in line. He asked how long we were waiting (which, by the way was only like 30 minutes!) and then I told him about how me and another friend were there the day before waiting out in the pouring rain for over an hour just to have it not open, and it was all a good time.
(He was also pretty cute I might add! haha.) So anyways, next is the incident with the bitch. So we finally got up to the platform, and for one reason or another, the security guard had us go in through the emergency exit. So we were officially the first three guests on the platform! Well, the ride employees didn’t want us to go in that way, but they wanted us to go through that little thing that counts how many guests rode the ride. We were stuck in there while everyone else went the right way. Well that bitch tried to take that opportunity to run up and be the first through so she could get the front row! Fucking whore, I know! Well cute security po-po guy wasn’t having it. He had her stopped so fast it wasn’t even funny, and we got through the county thing first! HA! We of course, then went to the first two rows and had the most AMAZING first ride EVER! It was totally worth the wait, and I suggest ANYONE who loves roller coasters to take a ride on Voodoo, Dorney’s newest coaster! You won’t be disappointed! =]]]
